The Brick Oven Pizza Altar was born in the spring of 2017. It is comprised of two custom welded metal frame brick trays and four sturdy legs. It requires approximately 100 standard size bricks. This is a mortar-less design that allows it to be disassembled and is therefore portable.
It takes about 2 hours to get the fire really cooking. We have explored the option of making our own bricks, but like, how fast do you want this pizza? We would need to be on playa in July.
We use a mix of clay bricks and high grade fire bricks. Having a blow torch seems essential.
